Join us for an exclusive and exciting opportunity to meet the author Peter Donnelly of much-loved books such as ‘The Dead Zoo’ and ‘The President’s Glasses’ at the Dead Zoo Lab in the National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks. The Dead Zoo Lab will be exclusively open for attendees of this event only before the Museum opens at its regular time of 1PM on a Sunday.

Attendees will have exclusive access to get up close and personal with some of the most popular specimens from our natural history collection which feature in Peter’s novel ‘The Dead Zoo’. Peter will then join us to do a reading and share how his captivating stories come to life through an engaging presentation.

After the presentation, Peter will be available to sign his novels which are available to be purchased on the day in our gift store. Each attendee can apply their €5 ticket to a €5 off discount on any in-store purchase of €20 or more.

After the event, we invite you to explore our galleries from 1PM or drop into our Synge & Byrne on-site café to enjoy

Peter Donnelly is a best selling Irish author and illustrator of children’s picture books. 
His titles include The Dead Zoo, The Great Discovery, Up on the Mountain, Little Wolf and the much loved President’s series. Many of his books have been shortlisted for the An Post Children’s Book of the Year Award. 

The President’s Cat and The President’s Dog won the award in 2018 and 2023.

His popular Dead Zoo picture book series is set in The Natural History Museum of Ireland and features an array of fictional characters.
