No. 9 IRA GHQ Pattern grenade, 1st Eastern Division, 1920-1921
This cast iron grenade case is of the No.9 GHQ Pattern. This case however, has the following cast into its body – “R.C. McK, Mun Off, 1 EST Division”, which covered areas stretching from South Louth, through Meath, Fingal and Mullingar. The purpose of the name on the case – possibly Richard (Dick) McKee - is not yet known, but this grenade may have been made as a commemorative item.Suíomh:
