BOOKED OUT - Culture Club: Why Keep Dead Stuff? The Hidden Stories of Natural History Collections
Free, Pre-Booking Required
Meet Curator of Zoology, Emma Murphy, at the Dead Zoo Lab to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes at the National Museum of Ireland - Natural History. What can be learned from long dead animals? Delve beyond the displays to discover the hidden histories contained in natural history collections, current scientific research, and why the collections are more important now than ever.
The Dead Zoo Lab at Collins Barracks offers members of the public an opportunity to explore, engage with and enjoy some of the most popular specimens from the natural history collection, as well as some specimens that haven’t been on display for many years, while the Natural History Museum on Merrion Street is closed for much needed conservation and refurbishment works.
This talk will be 30 minutes followed by 15 minutes for questions and then tea & coffee.
